The Countries Game

old-map-281-300x231My friend Joanne has a thing called the countries game.  The idea is that you have to count how many countries you have been to. She has rules.

It is surprisingly hard. One writes a list, but then remembers other places one has been. I think I get 45, assuming that the Channels Islands are different countries.

  1. I lost your reply in my newsfeed for a few days. Drowned by other peoples’ selfies and pictures of kittens. I am prepared to allow the Channel Islands as different countries, but only if:
    a) You file your tax return on at least one,
    b) You speak a Channel Island dialect,
    c) You watched every episode of Bergerac, or
    d) You know what is brown and steams backwards out of Cowes.
I declare you the reigning country game champion, though I am making good progress on claiming the complete province and territory set for Canada (10 points). My game, my rules. 🙂

  2. a) Channel Islands and tax returns are inimical
    b) Boozat!
    c) Quite a few, but it was a while ago that Bergerac turned into Barnaby
    d) The Solent Ferry?
