Some people say: “What is the business case for this sort of thing?” But I am firmly convinced of the merits of a collegiate approach. It is much, much easier to resolve construction disputes quickly and on sensible terms if the lawyers on each side trust and respect each other. Anyway, however experienced you are, you learn stuff at these things, particularly if there are papers from overseas, so that you can see what can be learned from different ways of doing things.
And besides, it was great to catch up with old friends, and to meet some new ones.
This was a really good conference – well worth while.
